May 17 Estate Planning Seminar Planned at Fairmount Homes

An informational seminar on estate planning is planned for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at Fairmount Homes Retirement Community in Ephrata. Jeff High, a Financial Advisor for Everence (formerly Mennonite Mutual Aid), will host the seminar, which will be held in the Crest View Gathering Room at 1100 Farm Crest Drive on the east side of Fairmount’s campus. The seminar is free and open to the public.

Presenters will include Timothy E. Shawaryn, Attorney with the law firm Gibbel Kraybill and Hess LLP, and Timothy Jantz, a Financial Advisor with Everence.

The seminar will focus on the importance of estate planning and explain the value of having the proper documents in place for the benefit of loved ones and charities.  Time will be allotted for guests to ask questions during this time. Quest Diagnostics Health Screen Planned for May 9

Fairmount Homes, in conjunction with Quest Diagnostics, is sponsoring a Health Screen on May 9, 2012, in the Farm Crest Community Room at 1100 Farm Crest Drive on the east side of the Fairmount Homes campus. The Health Screen will be conducted from 6–9 a.m. and is open to the public.

The Health Screen covers 30 tests designed to detect anemia, heart disease, both good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol, diabetes, gout, and  liver and kidney disease, to name a few. Also included with the screen is a lifestyle evaluation. To achieve accurate results, nothing should be eaten for 10 hours prior to the test, although water and medications may be taken. Two copies of your test results will be mailed directly to your home. All test results are strictly confidential.

The cost of the testing is $50. Testing for thyroid (TSH) and prostate screening (PSA) will be available for an additional fee of $20 each, and a Vitamin D screen is available for an additional $30.00. Payment by cash or check is due on the day of the Health Screen.
